Join Dan’s Dive Shop for a Photogrammetry workshop here in Niagara this March. This three part workshop is conducted in the pool and online and led by Kayla Martin.
It covers the ABC’s of Photogrammetry, Hands on Pool Session Capturing Data and finally How to Process a Model.
3D Photogrammetry is the process of using photographs of real-world objects to create digital 3D representations of those objects. In just one dive a skilled photographer using a scooter can cover an entire dive site and create a shipwreck model that can be viewed from any angle.

Part Two: Capturing the Data
In order to build the skills required, Kayla has designed the Black Pearl Shipwreck which can be deployed in the Brock University Pool.
It is about five meters long by two meters wide and provides the elements needed to practice filming 3D photogrammetry.
- Film ships wheel swimming with a GoPro setup with dual lights
- Practice scooter run without any camera to learn DVP operation
- Film bow and decking with scooter rigged with a GoPro and quad lighting
All equipment to film models, including scooters will be provided. Participants must provide their own scuba gear.
