Dive Les Escoumins, Quebec

Join Dan’s Dive Shop as we travel up the St Lawerence River and scuba dive in beautiful Les Escoumins, Quebec on August 1-5, 2025.
Les Escoumins has long been a very popular diver destination for Quebec divers. Last summer a couple of DDS staff members made the drive up the St Lawrence to see what Les Escoumins was all about – and they were not disappointed!
The section of salt water shoreline offers a wall teaming with beautiful marine life and vibrant colours. Some of the impressive marine life includes sea stars, nudibranchs, anemones, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, crabs, lobsters, shrimp, cod, lumpsuckers and if you’re lucky a wolffish. Whales can be spotted from shore but do not venture into the dive sites.
About the Area
At the Base is a fantastic dive operation offering fills, hot showers, clean change rooms, shaded areas to gear up, picnic tables and dive gear carts. Also on site is the Marine Enviroment Discovery Centre.
Les Escoumins is a quaint, small riverfront French community with great restaurants, grocery store and everything you need to make time in the are comfortable.
Scuba Diving
Open to all certifications levels and up but divers must have cold water experience and suitable gear.
Bring two tanks, there can be a wait time for fills. Entries are well set up with walkways. Doubles not recommended. Single steel tanks or side mount.
Divers must have lights and SMB.
Average dives will run a depth 40 – 60 feet for 30 – 45 minutes. Water temp is 1-5c. Salt water diving.
There are four dive sites at the base and depending on water conditions each day will dictate which sites you dive.
Scuba divers in Quebec must hold a FQAS permit, temporary permits are included in the trip price.
Details
Trip Outline: Make the drive up the St Lawernce to Les Escoumins on Friday, arriving anytime after 4pm. Three full days of diving on Saturday, Sunday, Monday. Packup up early Tuesday morning and go for awesome morning whale watching in Tadoussac and then head home after.
Accommodations is a comfortable modern chalet with full living facilities located just outside Les Escoumins. The house is a close walk to the beach with deck, bbq and fire pit.
Trip Includes: Four nights shared accommodation (double occupancy, Friday- Tuesday), FQAS temp permit, Whale Watching Tour and Francophone DDS trip leader, Hugo.
Not included: dive site parking, scuba gear, tanks, air fills, meals & gratuities.
Cost $525 + HST.
Terms and Conditions
Diver Responsibility: All Divers are responsible for insuring they have the appropriate scuba gear for cold water diving, redundancy and exposure protection. No scuba gear, tanks or weights are included. If rentals are needed the diver is responsible to pick them up in store during retail hours. All divers are expected to only attend dives within their diver certification level and experience. Lastly, unsafe divers putting themselves and others at risk may be asked to leave.
Cancellation Policy: All payments are non refundable. If the trip/charter goes full or you are able to fill your spot you will be credited for everything accept a $100 cancellation fee. If the charter is cancelled by the boat operator due to weather or unforeseen events a refund or credit will be issued.
