Dive Rite Cold Water Finger Spool 120′ offers the diver an easy to use reel for cave diving gaps or jumps, wreck diving or open water diving.  Perfect for deploying with an SMB or jumping from a main line to a side tunnel in a cave.

In the early days of cave diving, reels were not available to buy off the shelf. Divers used anything they could, including empty electrical wire spools. When exploring, divers would pay out the line and if they didn’t empty the spool it would be left in the cave for the next dive.

The spools came in various sizes and North Florida cave diver, Bill Hogarth Main, popularized smaller spools for safety and jump reels. Today, the 120-foot Finger Spool is often used for shooting lift bags as well as a safety reel. Small and low-profile, a spool fits nicely out of the way in a pocket or clipped off to a D-ring. The holes in the side allow for clipping in the double ended snap anywhere along the perimeter of the spool to keep the line tight when not in use. Made of ABS plastic, finger spools are simple to use in the water. They come standard with a large bolt snap.

Smooth and compact, the width and diameter of the spool have been optimized to fit perfectly in the hand. Inner corners have been rounded allowing the spool to spin freely between the finger and thumb when deploying line. Lightly scalloped edges provide a secure grip, and concave sides make it easy to wind the line without winding up your fingers.

A unique design feature prevents the line from spinning on the spool while winding but allows the end of the line to quickly be removed without untying knots. Modified diamond cutouts accent the spool’s unique appearance while making it easy to clip the included marine grade bolt snap into a full spool. A recessed flat area provides an ideal location for labeling or engraving initials.

The 120’ spool length is ideal for use as a safety spool in cave or wreck diving, or shooting a bag from deeper depths.

The Dive Rite Spool is crafted from high quality POM acetal plastic and is available in your choice of white Dupont (RE4600) or orange Dacron braided line (RE4620).
