Dan’s PADI Open Water Dive Course is a beginner course designed to provide a strong foundation for student divers with no prior diving experience. Topics covered provide in-depth knowledge and solid skills in scuba equipment, diving science, basic concepts such as trim and buoyancy, fin technique, weighting, pressure, volume, diving orientations, specialized equipment, basic decompression theory, diving accidents and first aid treatment, dive planning and table use.
We introduce our divers to the most modern skills, concepts, and equipment configuration alternatives not taught anywhere else in Canada and surrounding area at the open water level. This ensures you learn the right way to dive, the right gear to buy, and the right training path to take without making costly mistakes on poor training and equipment purchased elsewhere.
Sign up for our eLearn classes online or in store. We can issue you a PIN code to start today.
Pool Sessions will have to be completed within the specified guidelines, however, make-up sessions are available, see staff for more details.
The pool sessions progressively build on previous skills each week with divers improving their comfort and familiarity with each session.

What Gear Will You Need?
Diving is a gear intensive sport. Students will enjoy their diving much more in their own personal dive equipment. Those students purchasing their own SCUBA equipment package from us (regulator, computer, buoyancy system) will be issued a Dan’s Dive Shop Gift Certificate in lieu of using our rental gear. The Gift Certificate can used towards a next purchase of training or equipment.
All Open Water Dive Students are required to have their own personal scuba diving quality snorkeling equipment consisting of a low volume Silicone Mask (black silicone skirt recommended), Strap Fins (stiff, not of the split or hinge variety), Snorkel and neoprene wetsuit boots 5-7mm. This is the bare minimum required equipment to participate in diving education as set forth by the training agency. To learn about the specifics of this gear CLICK HERE
Ill fitting, department or box store snorkel gear will not be acceptable as they lack quality, fit and performance, especially the fins, which will not have the power to perform various fin kicks introduced in the class. Please consult DDS Staff for more information or ask us for the DDS Gear Guide now and we can email you more information today.
Dan’s is proud to offer the Largest Selection and Best Pricing available on all quality brand name Scuba and Snorkeling Equipment.
