Being a dive leader, assistant, training mentor and support diver is a big responsibility, but the rewards are unmatched.
Divers will learn how to be a professional assistant at the technical diver level.
You will be challenged and learn what it is like to work with divers as they begin or continue their technical diving experiences. You will learn how to manage divers, work the dive deck of a boat, and conduct enjoyable dives.
Technical Certification 1 level above the level you plan to assist
Minimum of 100 logged dives with 50 dives below 100′
Dive physics, physiology, how conduct pre-dive briefing, how to assist technical instructors as well as how to be a professional Technical Divemaster are all part of the course. Your skills will be refined to demonstration quality and your knowledge increased to that of a professional level assistant.
Students will need to purchase the appropriate materials.
This Course is designed for leadership level divers who are also capable technical divers to act as part of a support team for technical diving. expeditions and training activities.
A Technical Support Leader provides assistance to teams of technical divers provided diving conditions and methods approximate those in which your TSL training occurs. Your TSL responsibilities might include shuttling of equipment, removal and replacement of staged decompression gases and equipment, rigging and setting up decompression stations and gases and monitoring divers during ascent and staged decompression stops.
A must have member of any serious dive, the TSL co-ordinates the flow of the dive, safety aspects of the dive and is a selfless individual who will at times sacrifice their dive to act as rescue support for divers on expeditions, charters or any serious technical dive.
