NAUI Helitrox Diver Course

What will you learn?

Our NAUI Helitrox Diver Course examines the theory, methods, and procedures for planning staged decompression dives utilizing hyperoxic helium based mixes as   your bottom gas breathing mixture, as well as the effects of isobaric counter diffusion.

Prerequisites:

NAUI Intro to Tech
NAUI Technical Decompression Diver
75 Logged Dives
Physically Fit
Comfortable in the water

Availability:

This course is available privately for individuals or groups as well either locally or where you are located.

Training Agency:

NAUI Tec

Additional Details:

We’ll outline the benefits of utilizing helium based mixes on technical decompression dives to a maximum depth of 170′ which require staged decompression in comparison to just diving with air or nitrox and decompressing on nitrox or oxygen.

During your training, you’ll complete at least four open water dives on Helitrox mixtures (containing at least 23-30% oxygen and 17-24% helium) of which at least one will be a repetitive dive.

Your studies will include the knowledge necessary to plan and safely execute Helitrox dives including gas needs and requirements, oxygen toxicity limitations, nitrogen narcosis limitations, and emergency planning, including omitted decompression, oxygen toxicity, decompression sickness, and equipment failure. The skills introduced start the body and mind working as one unit developing survival skills and instincts needed for serious diving.

Topics covered will also include emergency and contingency procedures, entry and descent techniques; inert gas narcosis and oxygen toxicity; variable ascent-rate techniques and deep-stop models; diver trim, ballast and buoyancy compensation; decompression options; shore or boat based dive team support and chamber locations; communications and emergency breathing gases; and NAUI Technical Equipment Configuration (NTEC).

A great course for anyone interested in diving deeper safely using a better breathing medium than air and a perfect stepping stone towards your Trimix Diver rating.

If you’re interested in this program a CD is available upon request with a wealth of information for you to make an informed decision about this course.

Cost:  Stand alone cost is only $495+HST

$799+GST if combined with TDI Decompression Procedures Diver.

$1200 if completing NAUI Tech 1 (NAUI Technical Decompression Diver Course with Helitrox).

What gear will you need?

Technical Diver setup with double tanks, decompression bottle (properly rigged with MOD), drysuit inflation bottle with regulator for air/argon to prevent ICD.

Gear is to be Simple and Streamlined, complying with equipment configuration requirements.  A list will be given to all candidates.
