Kristen Mandziuk-Hardy, BA (Hons.) – Office Administrator, Travel Consultant
Kristen grew up in and under the water, and remembers her first snorkelling lesson in Turks and Caicos at the age of 4. Being “Dan’s daughter,” she was always in and around the water and loved her undersea exploits – from submarine adventures in St. Kitts, to snorkelling with green sea turtles in Hawaii.
After a decade of travelling in North America and abroad, she moved back to St. Catharines in 2011. She is responsible for managing store operations, and has recently become an independent Travel Consultant with Flight Centre Associates. Check out her business profile here. Kristen books all our store trips, and now can offer private bookings.
Kristen was a “late bloomer” when it came to diving, however she has gained a lot of great experiences underwater. In not even her first full year of diving Kristen explored the breathtaking Cenotes of the Rivera Maya, the lush reefs of Cozumel, the beautiful sights of St. Lucia, the massive Florida Keys shipwrecks, breathtaking Fiji, the kelp forests of Catalina Island, as well as the awesome Tiller Wreck off Port Dalhousie along with other local sites. It’s great to see, as that is what diving is about – getting out there and exploring every chance you get!
Kristen’s diving will be improving with the addition of her new DUI Drysuit as she is properly equipped for diving in the beautiful fresh water lakes, rivers and oceans of Canada.
A little Q&A with Kristen:
Q: What is your next personal or professional dive training goal?
A: To dive more in my drysuit!
Q: What spot is on your dive bucket list?
A: Indonesia. The coral triangle has the most abundant and diverse marine life of anywhere in the world. I can’t imagine all the colourful fish, and amazing creatures to see there. The country also has a rich heritage and beautiful nature and architecture, so it would be a great destination!
Q: What’s one piece of dive gear you can NOT live without and why?
A: Two things: my Atomic Subframe mask with prescription lenses, because it gives me the best window to the underwater world and has a great seal (and I can see better than with my glasses!). Also my Liquivision computer – it is small, super easy to read in day and night environments, and has a very nice interface. It’s also Canadian-made!
